The traditional annual U23 game against Twickenham RFC took place on Friday 27th December. The game is a memorial to a former Teddington player, Chris Mapletoft who sadly passed away at a young age and this year we also remembered Enrique May Borico, a young Twickenham player who suddenly died earlier this year. Some will remember Enrique playing in this fixture last season. This year the game was hosted at Twickenham, and as always was a competitive affair, but played with great spirit. The game is a fantastic way of staying connected with young players as they transition from junior to senior rugby, and many of the youngsters from both sides are already regularly representing their clubs at senior level which is great to see. This year Twickenham ran out deserved winners, but there was still much to applaud with Teddington’s performance scoring 4 trys through Ethan DAVIES, Kit HEALES, Hugo BERNIE, and Jack HEALES. Chris’s sister, Regan presented the trophy to Twickenham after the match. Congratulations to them, and we look forward to trying to reclaim the trophy back at Bushy Park next Christmas. The U22’s squad have one more fixture next Saturday 4th January at London Welsh before the holiday season comes to an end. Final Score Twickenham U23 49 Teddington U23 24. Man of the Match Ethan DAVIES.
