1st XV record big win against Hemel. 2nd XV held at Old Tiffs

Teddington marked their first ever league match at level 6 with an impressive bonus point victory over Hemel Hempstead at Bushy Park. Hemel, who finished in the top half of the table last season, came with a big strong set of forwards, and provided the first opportunity for the Antlers to test where they are in this new league. The answer came quickly as Teddington scored 3 unanswered first half try’s courtesy of Josh McKEIRNAN, Max AITKEN, and Alfie RANSOM. Bob BEEVERS reliable boot also kept the scoreboard ticking over and the Antlers turned around with a healthy 26-0 lead. BEEVERS nudged another penalty over after the break to stretch the home sides advantage, but Hemel hit back with two trys of their own bringing the score back to 29-12. Teddington regained control as BEEVERS slotted his 5th penalty of the afternoon before skipper Jack VALENTINE and Max AITKEN crossed late on to seal a big opening win. New coach Joao LINO will be pleased with the start to the new season as he starts to put his mark on the Antlers gameplan. Special mention to Jack HEALES who made his debut – another former Teddington Colt graduating to the 1st XV is a real positive for the club. Final Score Teddington RFC 46 Hemel Hempstead 12. Man of the Match Rory MERCER.

The 2nd XV made the short trip over Hampton Court Bridge to take on Old Tiffinians. Putting in a classy 1st half performance there were trys for Matt Le SUEUR, Ewan GRAY, Callum WHYTE, and David BRADFORD, however Tiffs reeled the Antlers in and tied the game with the last kick of the game. Disappointment for the 2nd XV, but there is real promise for a good season with this squad. Final Score Old Tiffinians 2nd XV 24 Teddington 2nd XV 24.
