Richmond Community Awards 2015. The 2015 winners have been announced.

To all club members

Every year Richmond Council Community Awards recognises the achievements of local people in the community. The club nominated Simon Cartmell for his efforts across many years with the juniors and driving the clubhouse rebuild. The club also nominated Sarah Edwards for her efforts in promoting womens rugby and participation in the sport.

About the Awards
The scheme recognises deserving and high-achieving people from every section of the community, who have:

  • Brought credit to the borough at a national level through, business, academic, sporting, artistic or cultural achievements
  • Given outstanding service to the community over a number of years or in connection with an exceptional event or emergency
  • Gone the extra mile to provide services and improve the quality of life for local people
  • Benefited the community through community involvement or volunteering activities

Following a four week nomination period in June 2015, over 150 nominations were submitted. A panel chaired by the Leader of the Council (Lord True) reviewed each nomination and select a shortlist of winners.

We are very pleased to announce that Simon was recognised for his tireless efforts, and the amount of time he has devoted helping the community. Simon has been invited to a celebration event, hosted by Lord True the Leader of Richmond Council, on 6th September. At the event, there will be a ceremony and presentation.

Whilst not recognised this year Sarah and the entire ladies section have done so much to promote women rugby that its only a matter of time before they are.

Congratulations to you both on a fantastic achievement.
